David Aker, Of Counsel to the firm, co-authored the recently published fourth edition of the treatise “Patent Law: A Practitioner’s Guide,” with Professor Ronald B. Hildreth, author of the first three editions and a retired adjunct professor at St. John’s University School of Law. The 1,138 page work includes  flow charts, forms, problems (with answers), the patent statute and regulations, of value to those learning patent law, and others who desire a one volume reference work.

The treatise is published by the Practising Law Institute.  All relevant chapters now take into account provisions of the America Invents Act that have been and are being phased in until March of 2013.

David Aker is in his thirtieth year of teaching patent law and related courses at the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, and is on the faculty of the Practising Law Institute’ s Patent Bar review course.
