OGRP continues to follow the evolving changes and challenges to our client’s rights, both in the US and internationally, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The following IP Offices have issued statements that deadlines will or may be extended in light of the impact of the corona virus.
WIPO: The World Intellectual Property Organization, has issued a statement that it is utilizing remote working systems, so as to enable the continued processing of applications filed under the PCT, Madrid and Hague systems.
EPO: The European Patent Office will be extending all deadlines falling on or after March 15, 2020 through April 17, 2020.
EUIPO: The European Union Intellectual Property Office will be extending deadlines falling between March 9, 2020 and April 30, 2020 until May 1, 2020.
UKIPO: The United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office may extend deadlines based on their discretion. We suggest keeping detailed records of how you or your business was affected by the coronavirus, and why this caused the deadline to be missed. Requests for extensions will be “considered as favorably as possible”.
